From junkyard to designer bicycles

The name of the Pelago brand originates from the word "archipelago", that is, the group of islands off the coast of Finland. Pelago is the result of the recognition of the majestic and immense lands that can be found all around the Nordic country. That inspired its creators to build strong, beautiful and very durable bicycles.

In their own local store of just 20 square meters located in the Vallila district of Helsinki, the brand's founders learned the technique and concepts needed to launch a bicycle brand. Right there they started assembling their own models, with very unique and robust designs.

In the beginning they rescued from the junkyard different parts of old bicycles that nobody used to make their own bicycles. Thanks to this they were able to learn, make mistakes, correct and learn everything about the assembly of touring bicycles.

Pelago is born to meet the most demanding needs of urban cycling

To manufacture urban bicycles that are resistant, of the highest quality and the highest performance.  These were the main objectives set by Pelago's founders to meet the needs of the world's most demanding urban cyclists.

In May 2009 Pelago was officially born, headquartered in the same store where, previously, they were tinkering and assembling their first bicycles.

Much more than a means of transportation

For Pelago, the bicycle is a precious and grateful tool that brings a multitude of benefits. It can be used for a variety of journeys, whether to go shopping for bread, visit a family member, ride with friends or simply enjoy a ride around the city. The design of the bicycles is made to take advantage of the trips that are made daily and to be able to enjoy the outdoors to make it a new experience that you could not experience with another method of transportation.

That is why Pelago manufactures different ranges of bicycles, all of them with robust designs, very practical and simple, so that they can cover all the needs of cyclists. In addition, they also manufacture components and accessories to complement and facilitate all cycling journeys.

The creation process of all Pelago models has the same pattern: maximum passion for art, design, the freedom of cycling and the ability to discover different corners of the cities in the same trip.

Over the years, Pelago has grown from a two-man company to a large team.
